Doesn't He?

Paige B wins this week's necklace contest with her suggestion of "He's gotta be out there somewhere". It just seems to fit the expression on this cupid's little face! This was one of the hardest necklaces to choose. I have stars next to five other entries that I thought were really good. You are all clever, but I think Paige B deserves this one. I like Leah's "I'm supposed to SHOOT the one I love?" That's funny.
Paige B - send me your mailing address and I'll send you your necklace on a 24" ball chain.
I decided that I'm funny too, so I made some 'cupidity' pendants.
Now - I'm off to the vet's to pick up Scootch. She's getting
all 'fixed' up today. Rumple has not touched his food or water and just keeps pacing around the house waiting for her.... so sweet.

Necklace Contest - Cupidity

Just in time for Valentine's Day ~ this week's contest picture is a rather bewildered looking cupid. Perfect for a comment from you...and I have total faith that there will be lots of good suggestions for this one! Contest rules are quite simple - make a comment with a suggestion for a quote or a phrase or a word that would be perfect for the back of this image. On Friday a winner will be chosen to receive a soldered glass pendant with this image and their quote on a 24" ball chain. More info is posted off to the side >>>

Out With The Old - In With The New

My trusty old kiln has been replaced with a digitally programable kiln with a peek hole. I fired it up today and was amazed at how fast it reached 1475 degrees.
It just doesn't have the character of the old one.....yet.
There are a bunch of Valentine Pendants being properly annealed in there now. Can't wait to see them!
...::~*~::...
The next day: Evidently I fired the kiln up way too fast - the glass didn't fuse properly.
I'll fire it up again this afternoon!

Sometimes It Is About The Cats

If you live in the Ft Collins area and love cats, this is an event you won't want to miss. Click here and check it out.
Sweatshop Baby's Auntie Janae is very involved with this organization, so Sweatshop Baby asked me to donate a necklace:
Front

Back
I'll do anything that Sweatshop Baby asks. I chose this particular image because that sweet kitty looks just like Poonie who recently went to Kitty Heaven and whose fabulous blog will be missed even by the naughty Princess Scootch.

We Should All Just....

...close our eyes and dive in. Don't you love it? Whether it's love, writing a term paper, or plugging in your new kiln that you have been staring at but not taking the time to just plug it in and fire it up (sorry - I'm injecting my own issues here) we should take Becky's advice and "Just close your eyes and dive in". Congratulations, Becky! E-mail me your mailing address and I will send out your winning pendant hanging on a 24" ball chain.
...:::~*~:::...
This week I have a good excuse for posting the winner late: I finished my Sales and Use Taxes this morning!! Yahoo! They are due on Monday. I'm much better with a soldering iron than with a calculator, but it was a necessary evil. I will be rewarding myself with a glass of wine, a fire and watching Season 2 Disc 2 of Mad Men with my husband. What could be better? Have a good weekend - meet me back here Monday morning for anther round of the Two Dog Pond Necklace Contest.

Necklace Contest - Enter Here:

This week's image has me a wee bit baffled. The more I look at this picture, the more I wonder... so now it's up to you, dear necklace contest enterers - to come up with a saying, a quote, a word, or whatever you feel appropriate for the back side of this image. On Friday I will choose a winner and she or he will be awarded a soldered glass pendant of this image with the winning saying on the back and hanging on a 24" chain.
Ready - Set - Dive In!

Sounds Fishy to Me

I just finished the fish piece of stained glass I've been working on for way too long...
I adapted the design so I could use glass baubles for bubbles so it would have a bit of dimension

Meanwhile....Tim is out on the pond ice fishing

...so far the only thing close to catching a fish is this little baby bass that came up for some sunshine.

There IS Magic...

Pan's Island is this week's winner with her entry of "There's magic in the snow". Anywhere there's magic, there's also glitter (in my world, anyway) so there is a bit of glitter on the magic snowmans hat and on his magic mushroom.
The snowman image was taken from this postcard:
...notice the giant four leaf clover? Just makes this an even weirder-I mean more magical- image.
Thanks to every one that participated. It's obvious who was a teenager in the 70's...
Miss Pan's Island, send me your mailing address and I'll send you your magic pendant on a chain.

The Naked Truth

This one's for you, Shara. For giving us all a chuckle or two and being brave enough to actually post your suggestion. You Rock. Let me know your mailing address and I will mail out your necklace (as soon as the roads are plowed and I can actually leave Two Dog Pond) Shara is the author of the Monkeybox blog ~ fun reading!
PS - this pendant is tiny - just .5"x1.25" so that on one gets too freaked out if you're wearing a naked person.
...:::*:::...
Does anyone else have those dreams where you're out and about shopping or going to school or some normal public activity and suddenly realize that YIKES you're naked. and then try to act like it's normal to be naked? I'm sure that if you're a psychologist reading this, you have some snarky reason why I have those dreams, but that's what this image reminds me of. So - here's the pendant I made in honor of those of us that have the publicly naked dream:

So, yes, by all means - Follow Your Dreams. Just be careful which ones....

Necklace Contest - Rated C for Cold

I've contemplated using this old postcard image before, but didn't want to risk offending anyone. Today's the day - after the holiday cookies and cocktails, I'm sure we all take comfort in seeing the thighs on this talented classical guitarist. I digress....
Here's the contest - you think of a word, a quote, a saying (probably not a Bible passage on this one) that goes with this image. At the end of the week I will choose a winning suggestion, and the maker of the suggestion will receive a soldered glass pendant on a 24" chain to wear about town. There are complete contest rules posted to the side >>>
We can all think about it as we're doing lunges/stepmasters/thighmasters/P90X/or whatever else we made resolutions to do daily. in 2010. until we're skinny.

First Winner of 2010

It was certainly not an easy task to choose a winner this week. There were a lot of really great suggestions. BUT - hands down, this one is the best: "Give Peace a Hand" submitted by Brighid of the Brighid blog. Since I couldn't decide what size pendant to make, I made two - so Brighid - when you send me your mailing address, tell me if you would like the smaller .75"x 1" or the 1" x 1.25" pendant. There will be more hand shadows in future contests. I think this turned out really well - don't you?
Have a good first weekend of 2010 - stay warm. Carry on.
