A couple years ago, I took an emameling class at the LUX in Lincoln. Loved it, but haven't had the time to set up an enameling station and work at it. So... I bought Barbara Lewis's book "Torch-fired enamel jewelry", cut some copper tubing, and yesterday made the beads above. I shall call them "burnt macaroni". Yuch.
Those crusty pasta beads won't stop me from trying again...

I have some burnt macaroni tubes on my bench, too! Join her website and take a look at some people who have the technique figured out - I'll bet there is some burnt macaroni in their past.
Adding colour to metal is so much fun - keep at it1 I am thinking tubes must be much trickier than domed discs?! BTW - congrats on the 5 year milestone!
I have the enamel, equipment, books, copper and have done nothing since that class.... you will have to come down and we can burn a few beads together.... but not until we have the shop done. Just got the wood floor done today....yeah.
They look pretty cool actually! Glad you got around to doing it. Mine is just sitting there. One day.
Ha ha!! I actually really like your "burnt macaroni"!! If you don't want them send them my way... I'll use 'em!! they'd look great on some art!! ;-) Happy new year to you Rachel!
